Puzzle the Third: Corn in the Locker
So I went to the locker, and put in the code. It worked as intended, no having to use a cipher or anything. I took the contents out, and took more photos from my room. If anyone wants to see the objects in person, just ask me. I'll be happy to bring them to class.
Contents of the locker:
This is how I found the locker. Nothing changed between opening it and taking this picture.
Paper in the locker:
There is nothing other than this on the paper. I don't think this is very important, but just to be thorough, I'm including it.
Corn in the locker:
It looks quite corn-e doesn't it? Puns aside, what does the E mean?
Further inspection of the corn:
Inside the husk of the corn was this quote: "Give a man a cob of corn and he eats for a day. Teach a man to read about agriculture and he feeds himself for life." Could have significance, or it could not.
Also, there were weird lines at the base of the corn, I don't know what they are about.
Final thoughts: We need more letters. Maybe the words in the husk will tell a story. I have peeled back more of the husk, but there doesn't seem to be anything deeper. Only time will tell.
Edit: Also, there is a small bad spot on the top of the corn, so if we want to eat it, that should be cut off.

But how? Boiled, on the cob or not? Or grilled? With butter? Cooked with salt, or salt added after? Maybe with some honey? Or paprika perhaps? The possibilities are endless!abensonwpi wrote:I suggest we eat the corn in celebration

Thank you so much for mentioning that. I forgot about the paper, but now that I look closer at it, there is a u in the corner, and something appears to be at the top, but I can't read it. I'll bring both the corn and the paper to class.

Re: Puzzle the Third: Corn in the Locker
Someone should go over to the library tonight or tomorrow. I went and did a quick skim but couldn't find anything. I was thinking it might be in the sections with dewey decimal numbers 560(Biology) 570(Plants) or 630(Agriculture).

Re: Puzzle the Third: Corn in the Locker
So I found corns 2 and 3. As suspected, corn number 2 was in the Agriculture section of the library. Here are pictures of the corn:
It has the letter A on it. So fat we have EA. It must be that they release the same corn every year but with only minor differences!
This is the text found on the corn:
It reads "Corn snakes spend most of their time underground. They probably feel right @ home in this underground zoo."
Finally, the lines at the bottom. They seem to indicate that it is the second corn.
This lead us to the zoo lab in the basement of Fuller. Lo and behold, we found a third corn.
Here we have it. Corn number three. It has either an I or an H on it, although we suspect it is an I from the orientation. We now have EAI.
These images are the text on the third corn. The husk was slightly broken down the middle of it, so it was hard to read at first. It says "Each ear of corn contains the amino acids histidine and leucine. Neither one exceeds a weight percent of 0.154 g/corn."
This corn has 3 lines at the base.
Room 154 is the room in which we have class. 0.154g/corn. We have already found the last corn, but I don't have pictures of it. If anyone has those pictures could they post them? All I remember is it saying that it was the last corn and that it had a W or M on it. This would give EAIW or EAIM I'm suspecting that somewhere there will be more/ more letters. Putting EAIM and EAIW through the original cipher gives nothing.
I'm suspecting a Z will be revealed at some point, as that would give all the letters for MAIZE, but that is pure speculation.
Special thanks to use AgentWPI. We met up in person and solved it together.

Hm I don't know. I feel like I saw more than 4 around. Did the 4th corn have writing on the inside as well?

Re: Puzzle the Third: Corn in the Locker
Hi, my roommate found the fourth corn in the classroom, before corns two & three were found, but he was too busy/ burnt out with RBE to post stuff so I'll do it for him.
The corn has either a W or M written on it as stated before
This time there's four lines on the stalk
There was a message inside, I couldn't get it in one picture so hopefully it can be made out between the three. The message says "Though you'll be around a lot of food, this last corn is not for eating. Tell the one who's at the front of the center 'This is where the clues have been leading.'"
I think that's everything. Hopefully the images post correctly.

Re: Puzzle the Third: Corn in the Locker
So I went to the campus center today and asked the guy at the counter about the fifth piece of corn, saying "This is where the clues have been leading." He told me someone already took the piece of corn a few days ago. This means someone already has the piece of corn, and hasn't posted. If you have the corn, please post pictures.

Re: Puzzle the Third: Corn in the Locker
So I got a PM from someone who found the corn. Here are the pictures they sent me:
It says "I hope that you're _____ on my little scavenger hunt. Don't tell Jessica I'm helping you guys out. I have a stone shard in the grill behind the CC. -Cornelius".
Tomorrow I'm planning on going down to both the CC to find the stone shard at 10am, and also down to the skull tomb for the pieces of the map.

Re: Puzzle the Third: Corn in the Locker
Also, as expected, the corn had a Z in it. This does give an anagram for MAIZE. The letters are then in the order 42351 if anything can be done with that. Also, I went to the place where the fifth corn led, and all that was there was a piece of paper saying "LOSERS! I got to the shard first! You took waaaaaay too long solving that puzzle. Don't you know corn is a perishable good? ...Just like Guy Delper. The clock is ticking. -James" So we failed that puzzle. James has Guy. Now we need to find a way to stop him.
